Open Standards (OCPP/OCPI)

< 1 min read

What it is #

Support for open standards:

  • OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol): Connects chargers to Powerly.
  • OCPI (Open Charge Point Interface): Enables roaming between networks.

Why it matters #

  • Works with multiple charger manufacturers.
  • Future-proofs your investment.
  • Expands compatibility with third-party services.

How to use it #

  1. Confirm charger supports OCPP 1.6+.
  2. In Network > Add Charger, enter charger ID & OCPP endpoint.
  3. For roaming, open OCPI Settings and enter partner details.
  4. Test connection before going live.

Tips & Best Practices #

  • Always update charger firmware to latest version.
  • Document partner agreements before enabling OCPI roaming.

Example Scenario #

A site with ABB and Wallbox chargers connects both to Powerly using OCPP. Later, they activate OCPI to let external drivers use the chargers via roaming partners.
